Tourist Mini-Trains

A mini-train ride is sure to delight the children! Have you heard of Saint-Trojan’s little train? Operating since 1963, it has already transported several generations of holidaymakers through the pine forest of Saint-Trojan-les-Bains. Whether for a sunset ride or an unusual way to reach the beaches of Gatseau and Maumusson, this tourist railway will charm the whole family with magnificent views of the Coubre forest on the mainland side.

In Grand-Village, the little Cagouille Express train (on wheels this time!) provides shuttle service between the town hall and the Grand-Village campsite, all the way to the beach.

The Little Train of Château d’Oléron offers a 5-kilometer ride through the heart of the town and the Oléron citadel. A 35-minute guided tour allows you to effortlessly enjoy all the tourist attractions of the oyster farming village, from the market square to the Vauban citadel, passing by the port and its colorful artists’ huts.

The Little Boats
To entertain the children, what could be more fun than a little boat ride? Discover the miniature port Ti’Bato on the Étang des Prés Valet, in Saint-Georges d’Oléron. The electric boats are faithful reproductions of trawlers, ferries, or Mississippi steamboats. Children, whether alone at the helm or accompanied, love playing captain!

The Port des Salines in Grand-Village-Plage offers rowboat rentals to discover the fauna and flora of the salt marshes. A game-based route makes the circuit lively. The ride lasts one hour and is self-guided.

Tree-top Adventure Parks
Titiparc Club Aventure in Château d’Oléron is a tree-to-tree adventure park labeled ‘Arbres et Loisirs’. It will appeal to the most athletic, with five courses and about forty workshops. Activities are suitable for ages 3 and up.

In Saint-Trojan, the Fun Golf leisure park offers tree-top adventure courses, an 18-hole mini-golf, and inflatable structures for children.

La Gataudière adventure park, located in Marennes opposite Oléron Island, features a large tree-top adventure course. It also offers quad or pedal kart rentals, paintball or bubblefoot activities, mini-golf, and catapult jumps. There’s sure to be something to keep teenagers entertained during the holidays!

Oléron Donkeys

Discover the donkey rides offered by the Donkey Farm in Saint-Georges d’Oléron. Children enjoy a ride on a donkey’s back, guided by their parents. The path crosses vineyards and pastures.

It’s also possible to book a carriage ride, to be enjoyed as a family! Alternatively, a self-guided visit of the farm is possible along a marked trail, allowing you to discover donkey breeding.

On site, a shop offers organic donkey milk soaps, plush toys, and books about donkeys.

Finally, don’t forget the must-sees of Oléron Island, such as a climb to the top of the Chassiron lighthouse.
