It’s THE flagship amusement park in the Region, attracting 2 million visitors annually and ranking just behind Mickey and his friends in terms of attendance. Located just 1.5 hours’ drive from the Charente coast, Futuroscope is one of those must-see attractions to experience at least once in your life. But with all the new attractions and innovations, we bet you’ll be back more often! We spent an entire day there to let you experience Futuroscope.

For over 21 years now, Futuroscope has been a part of our holidays. Very close to Poitiers, in the Vienne department, and well-served by the motorway and a TGV station, the amusement park is a must-see, just like La Palmyre Zoo, the Hermione, or La Rochelle Aquarium. So when we were offered the chance to spend a day there, we didn’t hesitate for a second. Every year, there are many new attractions at Futuroscope, and we were sure we’d have a great day. The verdict? Let’s go for it!

Plan your Futuroscope Visit

The first thing we do when we arrive at the park is download the Futuroscope app, which gives us real-time waiting times for each attraction and our current location. It’s ideal for planning your day, avoiding queues, and making the most of the program offered.

We prioritize new attractions, especially a small car that goes very fast… or at least gives us that sensation! Futuroscope has developed a sensational attraction: “the Sébastien Loeb Racing Experience,” which engages all five senses thanks to a high-tech seat and an augmented reality headset. The result is stunning, it’s hard not to scream! This first experience sets the tone: we’re in for a visual treat!

Must-See Attractions at Futuroscope

“Raving Rabbids, Arthur, Sébastien Loeb, Thomas Pesquet…: Futuroscope’s VIPs”

The attractions follow one after another, to our great delight: The Raving Rabbids’ crazy time machine, Arthur and the Minimoys’ incredible 4D journey, or the wacky Ice Age theater… it’s impossible to get bored with the multitude of options offered by Futuroscope park.

My friend and I picked two favorites. And a favorite means a double ride! First, the unmissable “Dance with Robots” takes us into a wild dance hall to the rhythm of sounds mixed by Martin Solveig. And it’s safe to say you need a strong stomach for the acrobatics of our max-power robot!

Finally, and this is our favorite attraction, “The Extraordinary Journey” takes us into the poetic and humanist world of Jules Verne. Aboard an incredible machine, we fly over our planet with our feet dangling in the void. It’s truly a masterpiece that makes us want to travel. Coincidentally, a new IMAX film has just been released, sending us in the footsteps of the famous French astronaut Thomas Pesquet. “Honey, are you sure we’re on the International Space Station?”

It’s impossible to list all the attractions and entertainment at Futuroscope here, which even offers a high-quality night show, signed by “Cirque du Soleil” – no less! For our part, we decided to end the day by having a drink 45 meters high and… with our feet dangling in the void! Thrill-seekers, the Gyropode is for you.

“Between technology and emotions, Futuroscope transports us to another world”

Tips for Enjoying your Day at Futuroscope

Futuroscope will appeal to both young and old and is well worth the short hour and a half drive needed to get there from the Charente-Maritime coast. Most attractions take place indoors, in front of a large screen, often with an augmented reality headset or 3D glasses. We therefore advise you to take regular breaks to fully enjoy the effects of each attraction; a large number of outdoor and indoor games, like the Arena Fun Experiences, are designed precisely for this. Not to mention the Park’s restaurants, which offer affordable menus and allow us to recharge before tackling the afternoon.

It’s already time to head back to our campsite, but we’re keeping in mind the new attractions already in preparation: we’re told a trip to Mars is coming soon… We can’t miss that, we’ll definitely be back in Poitou very soon!
