Holidays mean relaxation, sunbathing, rest… But also FUN, LEISURE, and ACTIVITIES! I’m going to reveal some great tips and activities to do with your friends during the holidays. And there are activities for ALL TASTES: Sports, relaxation, culture, or gastronomy, you just have to choose according to your desires and your budget.

West Coast Essentials

When I go to the coast, the first place I head to, after settling into the campsite, is the ocean. I can relax there by sunbathing or collecting seashells, or have a good time with my friends playing Beach Volleyball or spikeball (an increasingly common game consisting of a bouncing net positioned 15 cm from the ground and a small ball). Depending on where you spend your holidays, you can find water sports centers that offer all sorts of activities like boating, jet skiing, parasailing, or towed tubing. Last year I tried surfing, this year I’ll try wakeboarding.

My great tip: find a west-facing beach and bring some snacks and drinks. You’ll see, there’s nothing more magical than an aperitif on the beach in front of a sunset!

What else You Can Do in Charente-Maritime

During my holidays, I enjoy visiting and discovering cool and fun places. I’ve already visited the Oyster City in La Cayenne and learned how to properly open oysters, how to make a cooked oyster recipe, and we even got to taste them before going to eat seafood on their restaurant’s terrace. I also took a boat trip to see the famous Fort Boyard. Saint-Jean-d’Angle Castle immersed us in a day in the Middle Ages.

And after visiting the La Rochelle Aquarium, I took a plane ride over the city. This year, I plan to visit Zoodyssée Park in Chizé to discover the wildlife and take a boat trip on the Green Venice of Marais Poitevin to observe the flora there. Maybe I’ll also go to the freefall simulator in Rochefort or Royan if I have some free time left!

Great Tips for “Chilling” with Friends

Holidays are also for relaxing and enjoying yourself. So I like to have a coffee or an ice cream. Tasting specialties like ‘éclade de moules,’ accompanied by a small traditional white Pineau… What bliss! I enjoy street entertainment, shops and artisan boutiques, as well as the various shows, concerts, and festivals that punctuate my holidays and create unforgettable moments.

For the biggest party-goers (like me!), you’ll find bars and nightclubs in the department’s towns such as La Rochelle, Rochefort, Royan… Plenty to enjoy your evenings! As for me, I’m already planning to go out for a drink and enjoy some good food at a restaurant, and why not, a few nights a week, let myself be drawn to a nightclub to party with my friends!

Activities at My Campsite

All campsites also offer a selection of sports activities with organized tournaments (football, volleyball, pétanque…) as well as evening activities with themed parties (Karaoke, blind test…). For this, inquire with the campsites to find out their activity schedule and choose the one that appeals to you most! Some campsites offer access to a dedicated barbecue area. Perfect for organizing an excellent meal with friends!
