In 1966 the dream of Claude CAILLÉ became a reality with the opening of the magnificent zoological collection of La Palmyre.
Through passion, hard work and belief this zoo has become a world-wide
reference which welcomes more than 800,000 visitors each year.
Between Bordeaux and La Rochelle, the zoo is an oasis of encounters and
discoveries with over 1,500 animals from every continent transforming
a pine forest into a real-life 'Jungle Book' according to the remarkable
imagination of one man.
